On November 29, 2012, Xi Jinping mentioned the "Chinese Dream" for the first time.
On the morning of that day, Xi Jinping, who was elected as the new General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC)at the 1st Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee, along with other then-members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau such as Li Keqiang and Zhang Dejiang, visited the "The Road to Rejuvenation" exhibition at the National Museum.
During the visit, Xi delivered an important speech, stating that everyone has ideals and pursuits, and their own dreams.
"Now, everyone is discussing the 'Chinese Dream'. In my opinion, achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is the greatest dream of the Chinese nation in modern times".
Xi Jinping also emphasised that he firmly believes that by the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects will surely be achieved;
by the 100th anniversary of the founding of New China, China will become a great modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advance, harmonious and beautiful, and the dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation will surely be achieved.
